WEATHER SOUTH CANTERBURY FORECAST
FAIR TO CLOUDY Special to “ The Timaru Herald.” WELLINGTON, September 28 Winds—Rather variable with southwesterlies in places at first, but with north-westerlies generally predominating. Weather —Fair to cloudy for the most part, but with scattered light showers during Wednesday night, temperatures moderate. Seas—Slight to moderate. DOMINION FORECAST General Situation An anti-cyclone is now centred west of the Auckland Peninsula. A shallow depression which is followed by one or more secondaries is crossing the South Island. Forecast Winds—South-westerly at times over the southern half of the South Island, but northerlies to north-westerlies generally predominating. Force strong at times from Taranaki and Hawke’s Bay southward, otherwise light to moderate. Seas (New Zealand waters)—Rough at times about Cook and Foveaux Straits and rather rough on the West Coast of the South Island, otherwise slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea—Light to moderate but at times freshening winds between north-west and . south-west, seas slight to moderate. Weather—Cloudy to overcast and with occasional rain at many places in western districts from Kawhia southward, and scattered showers in the eastern districts of the South Island from Canterbury southward; elsewhere fair to fine; temperatures moderate to mild.
