The New Zealand schoolboys soccer team outplayed New South Wales to win by two goals to nil. T ? visitors gave a bright display on firm turf. The New Zealand team was:— Davey, Boddy and Taylor; McLean, McKenzie and Richardson; Singer, Clarke, Yeoman, Irvine, and Christophersen. Yeoman scored both goals for New Zealand. New Zealand received no free kicks, but were penalised frequently for offside play by Yeoman. Yeoman collapsed and left the field for attention after the first goal ten minutes after half-time. He headed into the net, and was punched on the nose by the goalie, who attempted to punch clear. The blood streamed from his nose, but he soon returned to the field. Yeoman scored the second goal after a brilliant tricky run by Christopherson who centred the ball perfectly for Yeoman to score. Several times in the second half, New South Wales seemed certain to score, but they were prevented by the sound play of Davey and Singer who possssed confident ball control. It was hard to find fault with the team in any respect. Boddy, with powerful kicks, often saved. The New Zealand managers are satisfied with the exhibition. Two heavy backs were not available owing to sickness.
