SKIDDED INTO POLE

TRUCK DRIVER INJURED By Telegraph—Fress Association AUCKLAND, August 28 Concussion, abrasions, an injury to the back and a possible fracture of the ribs were suffered by a bushman, John Edward Tumwald, aged 44, married, of Waitakere, when the truck he was driving crashed into a telegraph pole on Saturday afternoon. The driver was thrown on to the side of the road about 30 feet from the truck. The accident occurred outside the mental hospital on the Great North Road. Turnwald was driving alone at the time, and it is thought that the truck I skidded on the wet concrete and struck the pole. A taxi driver arrived on the scene, and found Turnwald lying unconscious with his head on the kerbing.
