RUGBY In a friendly Rugby match at Manchester Park on Saturday, Southern (Waimate) defeated Zingari (Tlmaru) by 8 points to 6. Mr L. Smith was referee. Hockey In a handicap hockey match played at Victoria Park on Saturday, Rovers (Oamaru) defeated the Waimate men's team by 5 to 4. Basketball Two Waimate basketball teams travelled to Hakataramea to play against Waiti.ki representative sides. The Waimate A team was defeated by 17 goals to 16. The referee was Mrs V. O’Connor, Waimate. The B team secured a comfortable win over Upper Waitakl by 20 goals to 10. PERSON/L Miss Frances Bradshaw, Harris Street, has returned from a isit to Timaru. Miss D. Fraser, teacher at the Makikihi School, is spending vacation at Gore. Mr M. J. McNab, .ormerly • n 'he staff of the Waimate Post Office, is a visitor to Waimate for the twenty-first birthday party of Miss Patricia Hickey and Mr Patrick Hickey. He will return to Queenstown to-morrow.
