SIZE OF LOCKERS
NO RECOMMENDATION D'ADE By Telperaph—Ptmjf Association WELLINGTON, August 26. The following statement has been issued by the North and South Island Freezing Companies Association: “In a statement made by the Hon. H. T. Armstrong on August 22 and published in the leading newspapers, referring to the dispute regarding the lockers to be provided for workers at th 3 Westfield Freezing Works, it was stated that the Labour Department had recommended lockers five feet six inches high, by 18 inches wide, but the companies went on building smaller lockers notwithstanding. This statement is capable of misunderstanding, and the committee, representing all New Zealand Freezing companies, wishes to state most definitely that to the best of its knowledge and belief, no such recommendation was made to any freezing company. The matter is, of course sub judice and the representatives of companies are not at the moment in a position to make any further public statement on the matter.”
