In beautiful weather before a large gathering of spectators, Buller won its third Seddon shield match of the seasoi", defeating Nelson by 26 points to 14. Buller had the better of the scrums, but Nelson played well up on to their backs. Amongst the highlights of the match were three great runs by W. Weenink, the wing three-quarter, ending on each occasion with scores, and a beautiful field goal by Dunn, the Buller full-back, from wide out at half-way. The scorers for Buller were Weenink (three), and D. Strachan. Stewart converted two tries and kicked two penalties, and Dunn landed a field goal. The Nelson scores came from tries by Qustry, and P. Watson, Grindle making one conversion and kicking two penalty goals. Outstanding for Buller were Weenink. Stewart, Strachan, Dunn (backs), Mason, Robertson, Lake. Wilson (forwards), and for Nelson. Busch, Brindsen, Watson (backs), and Qustry, Mackay. McLean and Bonnington.
