CAVE
ARBOR DAY Last Thursday afternoon members the Cave Women’s Institute, in conjunction with members of the School control committee and others, had a working bee for tree planting. In the school ground flowering shrubs were planted around the memorial and a row of trees, including red beech and black beech was planted half a chain apart the full length of the playground. A grant towards the cost of this scheme was given by the Mackenzie County Council some time ago. Institute members will undertake the care of the trees.
CANNINGTON YOUNG FARMERS
The Cannington Young Farmers’ Club met this week, Mr lan Scott presiding over a good attendance of members. Mr Leitch of the Department of Agriculture gave a very instructive lecture on pasture control, and on the motion of Mr R. Wisely he was accorded a vote of thanks. A letter of congratulation from the Pleasant Point Club was read. Mr N. Crawford and Mr A. Lamb were elected deputy chairman and secretary respectively. A sub-committee was elected to arrange a dance.
