SOLDIERS’ GRAVES
SCANDALOUS NEGLECT IN AFRICA United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph— Copyright CAPETOWN, July 14. Scandalous neglect of the graves of British soldiers who were killed in the Boer War Is alleged by Mr E. W. Walker, former District Commissioner of South African Police, In an interview with “The Cape Argus.” He cites cases of neglected cemeteries, unidentified graves, broken monuments, and alleges that he has found uniformed skeletons on the exposed and open veldt. The remains have been disturbed by animals and memorial crosses have been sold to iron foundarles. Some cemeteries are now among pigsties.
