DANCE AT SOUTHBURN

Last Friday evening, in the Southburn School, an enjoyable dance was held in honour of Miss May Johnston, who is soon to be married. Much appreciated songs were contributed by Miss Merle Bennett, and Mr Doxen Chamberlain. Music for the dancing, was efficiently played by Miss M. Evans and Messrs G. and F. Hoare. In an interval after supper. Mr E. Evans spoke of the good qualities of the guest of honour, Messrs N. Bell and A. Kinross endorsing his remarks. Mr Rupert Parry jnr., on behalf of the Tenis Club, presented an ornament to Miss Johnston, and Miss Ella Kinross, on behalf of the Basketball Club, also presented her with an attractive ornament. Mr G. Burns, returned thanks on behalf of Miss Johnston. Those present included Mr and Mrs Johnston, Mr and Mrs N. Bell. Mr and Mrs A. Kinross. Mr and Mrs P. Preston. Mr and Mrs C. Ward. Misses M.
