ESK VALLEY At the monthly meeting of the Esk Valley Women’s Institute. Mrs L. R. Bishop presided. A new member Miss Wright was elected. Invitations to the OtipuaSt. Andrews and Pareora birthday parties were received. The result of the competitions, judged by Mrs Bockaert, were as follows:—premier bloom, Mrs Copland 1, Miss M. Copland 2, Mrs Morrison 3; juniors, Miss Jean Pye 1, Miss Lily Stowell 2; gingerbread. Mrs L. Mills 1. Mrs Bishop 2, Mrs Morrison 3; junioro, Miss Jean Pyc 1; preserved fruit. Mrs Bishop, Miss Roberts and Mrs Morrison (equal) 1; 1 jar pickles, Mrs Bishop 1, Miss G. Sauer 2; junior, Miss Jean Pye 1: sugar bag apron, Mrs Copland and Mrs Morrison equal 1, Mrs Bishop 2. Miss G. Sauer 3; junior. Miss Jean Pye. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mrs Morrison and Miss Roberts.
