PRISON ESCAPEES

AGAIN IN CUSTODY By Telegraph —PresF Association WANGANUI, May 31. The two prisoners who escaped from the Walkune prison camp in National Park on Sunday afternoon were apprehended near Raetihi this afternoon. The men were seen by a lorry driver on the main road south of Raetihi and the police were communicated with. A search of the locality revealed no trace, but when Constable Beaton was returning to Raetihi he noticed the two men come out on to the road some distance ahead. He proceeded on foot until he came up with the men whom he recognised as the missing prisoners. They offered no resistance while they were being handicuffed and returned to the Raetihi gaol in the constable’s car.
