Fine weather after overnight rain favoured the Easter meeting of the Auckland Racing Club. The attendance was 21.000. The track was soft. Near the distance post Francis Drake deposed Suleiman, with Llangollen, Stretto and Golden Sheila challenging. In a close finish among five horses Francis Drake gained the verdict by a neck from Stretto, who was a head in the lead of Llangollen. Golden Sheila was almost in line fourth.
