Mr and Mrs G. H. Andrews, Evans Street, are spending the holidays with their daughter. Mrs W. R. Townsend. Christchurch.
Mr and Mrs Percy Wright, who were staying in Miss Hay's flat in Wai-iti Road, returned yesterday to ChristChurch.
Miss Jean Horwell, Kitchener Square, will leave to-morrow for Christchurch to take part in the Canterbury Women’s Golf tournament.
Mrs E. G. Kerr, “Ardgour,” Seals’ Street is on a visit to Christchurch where she will take part in the Canterbury Women’s Golf Tournament.
Mrs C. C. W. Haselden and Miss Enid Haselden, Bank of New South Wales, have returned from a visit to Christchurch.
Misses Q. G. M. Ward and M. Kennedy who arrived at Timaru on Thursday, will return to Wellington tomorrow.
Miss Lucy Huddleston, Sefton Street, left on Saturday for Dunedin where she will further her training at the Karitane Hospital.
Mrs John Elworthy, “Holme Station, - ’ Pareora, who has been spending some weeks in Christchurch is expected home to-morrow.
Miss Helen Scott, Seddon Street, will be a visitor to “The River,’’ Waikouaiti. for the marriage of Miss Peggy Orbell and Mr Erl ton Wilson which takes place on Wednesday.
Miss Helen Kerr, “Belmont,” Cave, will leave to-day for England where her marriage will take place. Mr and Mrs A. E. Kerr will '•.ccompany her to Christchurch.
Mr and Mrs M. A. Raymond, “Clovelly,” Nelson Terrace, and Mr and Mrs F. G. M. Raymond. Beverley Road, will leave to-day on a visit to Christchurch. Mrs Tom Brickell. Miss Shirley Brickell, Dunedin, Miss Ella Bath, Invercargill and Miss Esme Ussher, are spending the holidays with Mrs G. H. Ussher, Sefton Street.
A dance was held in the Lyalldale School in honour of Mr and Mrs A. Joines and family who are leaving the district to make their home in Timaru. The evening was spent in dancing interspersed with songs by Mr L. R. Bishop. Mrs L. R. Bishop supplied the music for the dancing. Mr J. McKeown, on behalf of the residents, asked Mr and Mrs Joines to accept two fireside chairs and a hearth rug, Sylvia Joines, a toilet set and Allister Joines, a book. Mr McKeown spoke of the splendid qualities of Mr and Mrs Joines and the interest they had taken in district affairs. Messrs H. W. Bishop and A. D. Bishop also added their tributes. Mr Joines thanked the residents for the honour shown them that night and the beautiful gifts.
