PERSONAL Mrs C. M. Louden is ' spending the Easter holidays at Dunedin. Mr L. H. Orbell, who has been on a visit to Winchester and Geraldine has returned to Christchurch. Mr and Mrs Victor Smart, Blenheim, are the guests of Mr and Mrs Gordon Smart, Temuka. Misses Irie Kellie and Edna Verdon who were staying with Mrs Eric Ferguson have returned to Timaru. Mr and Mrs H. Oldham, Blenheim, are spending Easter with Mr and Mrs C. R. Barnett, “Naumai,” Winchester. Mr W. J. Oldham, Christchurch, is the guest of Mrs W. J. Moore. Mr and Mrs J. C. South have returned to Winchester from a holiday spent on the West Coast. Mr P. Surridge is spending a holiday at Dunedin. Mr and Mrs N. McKenzie, Waimate, were the guests of Mrs J. Alexander, for the McGill-Alexander wedding. Mr J. Dennehy is spending the Easter holidays at Oarnaru. Miss I. Currie. Christchurch, is staying with her parents, Mr and Mrs W. Currie. Miss R. De Renzy, Christchurch, is spending Easter with her parents, Mr and Mrs J. De Renzy. Miss J. Gudsell. Timaru. is staying with her parents. Mr ai'd Mrs W. A. Gudsell for the Easter holidays. Mrs A. Hoskins and Mrs J. Smith Waimate, have been staying with Mrs J. Alexander for the McGill-Alexander wedding. LIBRARY SOCIAL The second of a series of card tournaments organised by the committee of the Library was well attended. The competition prizes were won by Mesdames W. A. Gudsell and H. J. Hopkins and Messrs J. S. Smith and John Cripps. Consolation prizes were won by Mrs W. J. Moore and Mr N. South. VALEDICTORY In the Victoria Hall on Thursday evening, Miss Ena Alexander was the guest of residents and friends at a social evening. Miss Alexander has been postmistress for more than six years and had resigned to be married. The early part of the night was taken up with cards. After supper, Mr W. J. Jackson spoke on behalf of the residents. He said Miss Alexander was a good citizen and had been indefatigable in her efforts to please everyone. Mrs J. C. South then presented Miss Alexander with a beautiful silver tea service and waggon and wished her every happiness. Mr J. McGill replied on behalf if Miss Alexander. The competition prizes were won :>y Mrs D. A. Pearce, Miss W. E. Alexander, Messrs N. McKenzie and G. McClelland. Consolation prizes were won by Mrs James Alexander and Mr D. Louden. Monte Carlo. Miss Vera Jackson and Mr L. Toomey. The music for the dance • as supplied by Miss D. Opie, Mrs L. Wood and Mr A. Graham. Mr W. J. Jackson was master of ceremonies.
