WOMEN’S DIVISION

SOUTHBURN BRANCH At the monthly meeting of the Southburn branch of the Women’s Division, Farmers’ Union,’ Mrs Turner presided over a fair attendance of members. . After the usual business had been attended to Mrs Turner welcomed Miss Mills, who gave a very interesting and delightful talk on her travels by motor car through England. At the close of her talk Miss Mills was accorded a vote of thanks. The competitions resulted as follows: I Seniors, best flower, Mrs Chamberlain, | Miss Chamberlain. Mrs Turner. Vase of flowers. Mrs Ward, Mrs Chamberi lain. Mrs Turner. Apron from sugar I bag. Mrs Turner, Mrs Chamberlain, Mrs Ward. Juniors: Best flower, Margaret Ward. D. Bell. W. Bell. Vase of flowers. Margaret Ward Hazel Murray. Apron from sugar bag, Margaret Ward. Hazel Murray. HAZELBURN BRANCH I There was a fair attendance of members at the March meeting of the Hazelburn branch of the Women’s Division, Farmers’ Union, over which the president presided. A discussion took place on the bottling of fruit which proved very helpful to members. A demonstration of bead necklace making was given by Miss Watkins for which she was accorded a vote of thanks. Afternoon tea was served by Mesdames Mowat and O’Connell. The competitions resulted as follows: Best bloom. Mrs Wolff 1, Mrs H. Blackler 2, Miss E. Glennie 3. Hand-worked cushion, Miss O’Connell 1, Miss E. Glennie 2, Mrs O’Connell 3.
