KITCHEN EVENING

A kitchen evening in honour of Miss Kathleen O’Boyle was held in Mr J. Sullivan’s granary, Kohika, and proved a success. Mr L. G. Donohue spoke of the guest’s willingness to help in any of the district functions and wished her every future happiness. Mrs Donehue then presented Miss O’Boyle with a bouquet made by Mrs B. Powell, with all the best wishes of the Kohika residents. Miss May Taylor spoke on behalf of the Basketball Club for which Miss O’Boyle acted as secretary and treasurer, and after wishing her all happiness in the future called on Miss Teresa Stack to make the presentation of a bedroom clock. Mr J. White endorsed the remarks of the other speakers. Miss O’Boyle was the recipient of many useful presents, and Mr J. O'Keefe thanked everyone for their kindness. The remainder of the evening was spent in dancing, music for which was supplied by Mr E. Borman i with extras by Miss M. Donehue and Mr S. E. Davis. Miss Grace White, who contributed highland and tap dancing, had an appreciative audience. The novelty dances were won as follows:—Lucky spot waltz. Miss Dix and Mr K. Dellow, lucky spot onestep. Miss E. McCarthy and Mr R. Galbraith. Those present included Mr and Mrs J. White, Mr and Mrs Sullivan. Mr and Mrs R. Arnst. Mr and Mrs L. G. Donehue, Mr and Mrs J. O’Loughlin, Mr and Mrs J.
