DEATH OF CHILD
INQUEST ADJOURNED Evidence of identification was taken at an inquest in Fairlie yesterday into the death of lan Theodore Murray, the 20-month-old son of Mr and Mrs Peter Murray.
Constable A. Mackintosh stated that the child had died on Sunday evening after a brief illness. A post-mortem examination had been made, but medical evidence was not available until an analytical report was received. The acting-Coroner was Mr P. E. Neilson and the jury comprised Messrs J. Macdonald, H. H. Wall, C. D. Elms and H. Welsh (foreman). In evidence, Peter Joseph Theodore Murray, father of the child, said the illness had occurred about mid-day on Sunday. The doctor had been attending another child at the time, and on making an examination, had not then regarded the case as serious. Later in the day, convulsions started, and witness went for the doctor, who remained with the child for an hour, and left after stating that he could do no more. The boy never regained consciousness, and died at 7.51 p.m. The inquest was adjourned sine die.
