FAIRLIE
LAST NIGHT’S CYCLE RACE WIN FOR R. HAMMOND Added interest was given to a cycle road race held by the Fairlie Cycle and Athletic Club last night because the competitors doubled back through the main street and spectators were able to note positions. The route was from Fairlie to Kimbell, back through Fairlie to Winscombe, finishing at the starting point, a distance of 16 miles. Results were:— R. Hammond (2min), 42min. 6sec. 1 R. Patton <2min.), 42min. 6 l-ssec. 2 B. Whyte (2i‘min.), 42min. 48 3-ssec. 3 A. Kane (scr), 40m in. 46sec 4 E. B. Taylor (scr), 40min. 46 l-ssec. 5 Fastest time was secured by A. Kane (scr), with 40min. 46sec., and E. B. Taylor scr. 40min. 46 l-ssec., was next. On the return journey from Kimbell, R. Hammond led the way through Fairlie, and he was closely followed by Patton, Whyte, and Dixon. Then came Kane and Taylor, the two scratch men, Cook and Wall U minutes later. A very large crowd witnessed the final stages of the race in drizzling rain.
