WOMEN’S DIVISION

PLEASANT POINT BRANCH The monthly meeting of the Pleasant Point Women’s Division of the Farmers' Union was held in the Town Hall, when Mrs Crombie presided over a good attendance of members. A motion of sympathy was passed to the relatives of the late Mrs Murphy. The members of the Farmers’ Union were present when Mr Anderson, curator of Timaru Park, gave an interesting and instructive talk on flowering shrubs and general garden work for which he was accorded a vote of thanks by Mr Ley. Supper was handed round by Mesdames Lyon and Kingston. The competitions resulted as follows: Mixed bowl of flowers: Mrs Gardiner and Mrs Lyon (equal) 1, Miss Lyon 3. Best bloom: Mrs Gardiner 1, Mrs Lyon 2, Mrs Gardiner 3. Cooking apples: Mrs Connell 1. Mrs Gardiner 2. Tomatoes: Mrs Gardiner 1. Marrow: Mrs Gardiner 1.
