WHO WILL GO TO ENGLAND?
PICKING THE AUSTRALIAN TEAM MR MACARTNEY’S SELECTION United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received January 11, 1.35 a.m.) SYDNEY, January 10. The Australian cricket team for England will be selected at the end of the month. Cricket writers are already indulging in speculation. Mr S. G. Macartney’s sixteen being published in “The Sydney Morning Herald” to-morrow, are as follows: Bradman, McCabe, O’Reilly, Fingleton, Badcock, Fleetwood-Smith, Oldfield, Gregory, Chipperfield, McCormick, Cotton, Tallon, Grimmett, White, Jackson and Robinson. Mr Macartney remarks that the selectors’ task has been made more difficult than ever, owing to so many young batsmen of quality offering. The first seven in Mr Macartney’s list he regards as certainties as they pick themselves.
