More than thirteen hours of sunshine were recorded but the warmth was marred slightly by a chilly sea breeze.

Sunshine —13.1 hours. Sunshine to date this year—s6.l hrs. IN OTHER CENTRES Christchurch.—The weather was overcast yesterday morning but the afternoon was brilliantly fine. A light south-west wind changed to a fresh north-east about noon. The maximum temperature was 62 degrees. The barometer rose slowly and read 29.95 in at 5 p.m. Ashburton—The heavy rata which fell in Ashburton amounted to 1.98 inches. Improved weather was experienced yesterday, however. There were some heavy clouds in the sky in the morning, but there was some bright sunshine and the temperature was fairly mild. There was a light southwesterly wind. Geraldine.— Bright and fine throughout the day; rainfall at “Waitui,” 97 points. Temuka.— Yesterday was fine and sunny with a cold easterly wind in the afternoon. In the rain of the previous afternoon and night l.Olin was recorded. The. maximum temperature was 62 degrees and the minimum 36. The barometer was rising last evening. Waimate (for the 24 hours ended 9 am. yesterday).—Thermometer, maximum 62.0; minimum, 47.0; rain, 3 points; bright sunshine, 5 hours 54 minutes; wind gauge, miles run in last 24 hours, 104. Yesterday was sunny with a fresh easterly breeze in evidence. Dunedin— The sky was overcast early yesterday morning, but the sun soon broke through and the day was warm and sunny. The barometer rose to 30.00 inches. CANTERBURY FORECAST Special to " The Timaru Herald." WELLINGTON, January 10. Winds —Light, moderate and variable with north-east to north-west predominating.
