HEALTH CAMPS

APPEAL TO TEMUKA CITIZENS The chairman of the Temuka Health Camp Committee (Mr Newlan Hancock) writes:— “May I appeal to Temuka and district, through your columns, on behalf of the Health Camp? I feel assured of your help, but I say to Temuka: ‘Will you help?’ “The gathering of fifty boys into the health camp at Temuka, could not but give the Temuka committee much thought for their comfort, amusement and provisioning. The camp garden, owing to the dry weather, has not produced the vegetables ready for the opening of the camp. Already offers have been coming in but will you do your share to make the camp a success? Meat, butter, carrots and potatoes are particularly desirable. Wastage is a thing the committee is anxious to avoid, but it is desirable to know where supplies can be obtained when required. By ringing the health camp, telephone No. 3, or ’phone 30 or 235, donations will be recorded and arrangements made to collect your offering. “The appeal for eggs through the various Women Institutes of the district and the local WB.F.U. has met with a wonderful response. The businessmen of the town are doing their part to keep the grocery and other accounts as low as possible. The butchers have offered to cut up any meat brought in and to keep it in coolers until required. The supplier of ice cream has loaned a frldigaire for the period of the camp. One man has offered up to 300 lbs of rhubarb so the committee feels it has the support of the town and district behind it. Can you help too? Maybe some offerings will not be needed, but the committee is grateful all the same, and each will feel that they have done their best to help fifty boys on their climb to better health.

“In anticipation of Temuka’s support I thank the townspeople and also you, Mr Editor, for the space you have afforded tor this- appeal.” Timaru donations may be left with Lister’s buses or Mr A. B. Annand.
