BURNS PROVE FATAL
BENZINE EXPLOSION By Telegraph—Press Association WAIHI, January 10. Death occurred in the Waihi hospital on Saturday of Frederick Augustus Cartman, aged 52, as the result of the explosion of a bottle of benzine at his home. Cartman and a son, aged 20, were in the kitchen with the stove alight. The former ■was carrying a bottle containing benzine. It is thought that the heat of the stove acting on the volatile nature of the spirit caused the explosion. Cartman was severely burned about the face, arms and body. His son escaped with lesser injuries and is making a recovery in hospital.
