GOOD WILL VISIT
LUMBERMEN FROM VANCOUVER By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, January 10. With the object of visiting timber interests in New Zealand and building up good will between the Dominion and British Columbia and securing a larger exchange of products, Messrs J. H. McDonald and J. G. McGonville, of Vancouver, arrived by the Awatea to-day. Mr McDonald, who was chairman of the Commission sent to New Zealand seven years ago by his Government, said the lumber industry had, in common with other branches of the building trade, been very active last year. The market was the world, and all the countries served had Increased their demands. A lot of New Zealand’s imports of fruit case and butter box timber had been coming from foreign countries, and it seemed extraordinary to British Columbia that Empire goods should be packed in foreign cases. A continuation of Empire preference was expected. Timber exporters naturally expected consistency from a Dominion like New Zealand.
