“ALIEN” THEATRE TO GO United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, January 9. The Riga correspondent of “The Times” reports that the Soviet has ordered the immediate liquidation of the famous Meyerhold State Theatre in Moscow as an institution alien to Soviet art. A committee will decide the future occupation of the manager, M. Vsevoid Meyerhold, whose ideas, until recently, were held up to the world as the boldest and most brilliant development of revolutionary theatrical art. Even the latest English official guide describes his theatre as markenly influencing, not only the Communist State, but earning a wide reputation abroad by the quest for new ways of attriting theatre audiences. M. Meyerhold clashed with the a', thorities some months ago, and the Press accused him of having an alien mentality and propagandering against Soviet ideas, but instead of admitting his error, he had the audacity to defend hirr—’f.
