A salvo of guns fired from a battery at Lykabettos announced the wedding day of the Crown Prince Paul of Greece and Princess Frederika of Brunswick, a grand-daughter of Queen Victoria. Crowds in the early morning filled the centre of the city and the squares. Firing guns announced the departure of the bridal procession from the royal palace at 9 a.m. for the Metropolitan Cathedral. Twenty coaches, which carried the royal guests passed through tne troop-lined streets. The bride presented a lovely picture as she drove with her father in a State qoach preceded and followed by cavalry. The Archbishop of Athens performed the ceremony with all the imposing ritual of the Grand Othodox Church. The three best men were the C own Prince Michael of Rumania, Prince Peter and g Prince Philip of Greece, who held the nuptial crowns of flowers over the heads of the bride and bridegroom while the words of the marriage service were said.
The bridesmaids were Princess Catherine of Greece, who is the Crown Prince Paul’s youngest sister, Princess Eugenie, who is his cousin, and Princess Herseleide of Prussia. Princess Frederika’s wedding gown was of simple cut, the material shimmering w ; th silver lame. She wore full-length sleeves and had an 18 foot train. The wedding procession returned to the palace where the Protestant service was performed by a German Minister. The Greek Government is issuing postage stamps bearing the portraits of the Crown Prince and his bride, and is also granting an amnesty to all first offenders ’ndergoing six months imprisonment or less.
