SUNDAY SCHOOL PICNIC Ideal weather prevailed on the occasion of the combined Hilton and Geraldine Flat Sunday Schools’ picnic, which was held on the property of Mr F. Charles, Kakahu. A very pleasant day was spent swimming, rambling, and in organised games. The results of the races were:— Hilton—Class 1: Potato race, boys, Kelvin Brenton and Raymond Johnson (equal) 1, Francis Paris 2, Selwyn Bruce 3; girls, Betty Winmill and Doris Patrick (equal) 1, Shirley Winmill 2. Class 11: Egg and spoon rac3, Roland John and Edna Bruce (equal) 1, Sylvia Henderson 2, June Chapman 3. Class III: Ernie Winmill 1, Allan Beattie 2. Geraldine Flat—Boys: 6 years an J under, Trevor Mattinson 1; 7 and 8 years, Peter Couling 1, John Sheed 2. Mervyn Hall 3; 9 and over, Frank Hall 1, Arthur Hall 2, Jack Hall 3. Girls, 6 and under, Betty Hall 1, Beverley Lewis 2; 5 to 8, Betty Mattinson 1. Margaret Lewis 2, Mary McColl 3; 9 and over. Audrey Sheed 1, Joan Couling 2, Shirley McColl 3. Married women: Mrs Beattie 1, Mrs Parish 2; single women, Edna Parish 1, D. Wilks 2; married men, H. Jones 1, B. Jones 2; single men, P. Brenton I, L. Brenton 2. Before afternoon tea, the year’s prizes were distributed by the Rev. W. J. Couling, who expressed pleasure in the combining of the two Sunday Schools for their annual picnic and a hope that it would be possible for other Sunday Schools ’.i the district to do the same. He commended the teachers of both Hilton and Geraldine Flat for their good work and asked the parents to co-operate by sending their children regularly. He then presented the prizes as follows:

Class 1 (Miss Pierce): Betty Winmill, Phyllis Winmill, Doris Patrick, Shirley Winmill, Lester Chapman, Kelvin Brenton, Harry Henderson.

Class 2 (Miss Omelvena): Joan Mitchell, Edna Bruce, Roland Johnson, June Chapman, Zeta Beattie, Kenneth Chapman, Sylvia Henderson. Douglas Hendersoh.

Class 3 (Mrs Parish): Nancy Beattie, Allan Beattie, Ernest Winmill, Patricia Henderson, Noel Beattie, Noelline Meredith.

Specials for attendance: Phyllis Bruce 1. Raymond Johnson, Francis Parish, Selwyn Bruce and Noelline Meredith (equal) 2.
