METHODIST BIBLE CLASSES The opening session of the Methodist Bible Class Summer School was held in the Technical College, the school chairman, Rev. E. P. Blamires, being in charge. From this commencing session there l has been evident a z wonderful unity j of purpose, to knit closely the varying sides of life into a wonderful and ; triumphant witness to the world of the I Redeeming Love of God. I Study circles are considering a study ' on “The Church.” prepared by the Rev. i P. Gladstone Hughes of Auckland. The first tutorial address was given Thursday morning by the Rev. Archer O. j Harris, of Christchurch, on “The i Church as the Dynamic of Social ‘ Change’’ and it challenged the thinking I of all school members. | During the afternoon members of the school visited Caroline Bay and also visited other points of interest around Timaru, and were much Impressed by what they saw of the town. The evening programme commenced with a cultural session, conducted by Rev. W. E. Moore, of Geraldine, who gave an interesting talk, illustrated by suitable gramophone recordings and pianoforte numbers, on the life and works of Mendelsshon. I A short session of intercession was led by the Rev. H. J. Tozer. M.A., the travelling secretary of the Young Men’s Bible Class Movement, and this fitted members for the following Open Forum. The Open Forum for the evening was conducted by the Rev. E. P. Blamires on the subject of “Bible Class Techj nique within the class meetings.” ! A keen discussion showed that mem- ! bers were ready to grasp new ideas and to fit themselves for more effective leadership in Bible Class work.
