STEADY INCREASE SINCE NOVEMBER WOMEN IN NEED OF EMPLOYMENT United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received January 2, 7.30 p.m.) WASHINGTON. January 1. The census director has indicated to President Roosevelt that the figures of the unemployment in the United States at mid-November, reached between 7,800,000 and 10,800,000. It is estimated that an additional million were paid off after that time. Nearly 2,000,000 women are included who need employment, some however, being doubtful cases. FRANCE FEARS CRISIS INCREASE IN UNEMPLOYMENT FEARED United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright LONDON. January 1. The Paris correspondent of "The Daily Telegraph” states that M. Flandin, ex Prime Minister, in an article in "Revue de Paris.” says: "The New Year will be one of great financial difficulties for France, which is approaching a fresh increase in unemployment and a disquieting decline in the volume of business. "Europe,” adds M. Flandin, "is already in a pre-war phase, which cannot last much longer.”
