In the Testimonial match, in reply to the score of 184 made by Bradman's eleven, Richardson’s eleven scored 380 for nine wickets (Badcock 102, Sievers 31, Chipperfield 41, McCabe 72, Richardson 42, Robinson 37 not out). Bowling for Bradman’s eleven, Ward took four wickets for 71 runs, Hynes two for 82, Fleetwood-Smith one for 81. Ward and Jackson troubled the batsmen most, but the fast bowlers were severely punished, particularly by Badcock, who was in great heart. V. Richardson announced his retirement from first-class cricket at the end of the present game. Another promising batsman caught the eye of the Australian selectors, namely Sid Barnes, who is a first grade player for the Petersham Club. His recent scores are 68 for New South Wales in the Sheffield Shield side at Brisbane, 97 against New Zealand, and two successive centuries against the visiting Western Australian team. Barnes saved the New South Wales side from defeat in the latter match, which ended on Saturday.
