HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY At a meeting of the Orari Horticultural Society held on Thursday evening in the Coronation Hall there was present: Mr J. B. Roberts, chairman, Mrs W. Watson, Miss D. Maxwell, Mrs G. Birdling, Messrs G. Bray, B. Hewson, E. J. Burke. J. B. Cone, W. J. Johnston and L. Pierce (secretary). It was decided to again give 15/- first and 5/- second for most points in each section as last year, prize money to be paid irrespective of entries. The following judges were appointed subject to acceptance: Pot plants and cut flowers, Mr A. W. Anderson (Timaru); fruit and vegetables, Mr H. MUlichamp (Ashburton); decorative, Mrs W. P. D. Barker (Gapes Valley); potatoes and roots, Mr A. Bisdee (Temuka); home produce, Mrs J. M. McLeod (Tycho); home industries, Miss H. Cooper (Timaru); photographic, Mr B. HorweU (Temuka); children’s sections, Mr W. Harrison (Temuka).
PERSONAL Mr M. Richardson, postmaster, Orari, who was to have been transferred to Milton, is now to go to Leeston. WELCOME RAINFALL Welcome rain fell in Orari on Wednesday, when 53 points were registered. This was further added to on Friday when another 28 points were recorded.
