ESK VALLEY
PRE-WEDDING PARTY Miss Nellie Hartnett, whose marriage to Mr Len Topp will take place next week, was the guest of honour at an enjoyable kitchen evening held ia the Esk Valley School on Saturday ev iing.
The evening was spent mainly in dancing, music being supplied by Mrs L. K. Bishop (piano land Master James Bishop (comet). Extras were played by Mrs Cartwright and Miss M. Donehue. Two songs sung by Miss Mulligan, Timaru, were greatly appreciated, also two step dances by Miss Topp (Pareora). A lucky spot waltz was won by Mr and Mrs Tony O’Loughlin and a Monte Carlo by Miss J. Morris and Mr Jack Coles. Mr Robert coup was M.C.
Messrs J. Stowell and Bishop : oke in eulogistic terms of the guest of honour and of the splendid services she had given the district.
Mrs Bishop presented Miss Hartnett with a bouquet on behalf of he ladies of the district and wished her every happiness.
Mr Topp, on behalf of Miss Hartnett and himself, thanked all present for their many and beautiful gifts. "For They Are Jolly Good Fellows was heartily sung and much amusement was caused as each article was unwrapped.
