SHIPPING DUES

INCREASE OF 10 PER CENT. By Telegraph—Pres* Association WANGANUI, October 18. The rising costs of administration were reflected in the increased charges and expenditure decided on by the Wanganui Harbour Board at its meeting to-day. All shipping dues and pilotage charges are to be raised by 10 per cent, and it was decided that owing to the new industrial conditions operating the services of another pilot are necessary. Another man is to be engaged at a salary of £312 a year, increasing tc £350, with house allowance of £6O. It also was decided that the salaries of five members of the staff be increased to the extent of £l7O a year. The charges for the services of the tug are to be at the rate of £l5 for each occasion the vessel is used instead of £l2/10/- as formerly.
