PLEASANT VALLEY
TENNIS CLUB A meeting of the Pleasant Valley Tennis Club was held on Wednesday night, there being a good attendance. The main business before the meeting was to decide whether the formation of an extra court be carried out. It was generally agreed that one court is not sufficient to meet the needs of the tennis enthusiasts of the district, and that in the face of a growing membership some action would reed to be taken in the matter. Great inconvenience was experienced last season during the playing of shield games, play often being carried on to a late hour. It was unanimously agreed to proceed with the raising of funds by various means, and to approach the Hall Committee with the view of procuring a suitable area of ground. Final arrangements were made for the dance to be held at the end of next week. It was agreed to run a bus from Geraldine for the convenience of supporters. After discussion it was agreed that new members of the club be permitted to challenge for any position they desired on the ladder. Mr H. Worner was appointed selector. GENERAL NEWS At a recent meeting of the School Committee it was agreed that four tennis racquets be purchased for the children. It was also decided to endeavour to have a chipped or /grass court provided at the school. With a coat of snow on the neighbouring ranges temperatures at Pleasant Valley have shown a sharp drop. Farmers on the lighter land, however, are grateful for the rain which set in on Tuesday night, as the westerlies of the previous week robbed the soil of much moisture.
