TOC H GROUPS REGIONAL RALLY About 150 members of Toe H Groups from various parts of the South Island will arrive on Saturday to take part tn the Canterbury Regional Rally which will be held concurrently with the fourth birthday party of the Geraldine Group. The visitors will include the Rev. Owen Williams (Christchurch), Dominion Toe H padre, and Messrs A. 8. Geddes (Canterbury Regional Administrator) and Aubrey Martin (Canterbury Regional secretary). Parties of Toe H members are expected from the following Groups: Lyttelton, Christchurch North, Christchurch South, Avon, Sumner, Tiroa (Christchurch East), Ngati-Awhina (Christchurch West), Timaru, Waimate, Methven and Temuka. Visitors are also expected from Rangiora, Oamaru, Dunedin and Invercargill. Governor F. W. Maddox, of the Geraldine Group, will welcome the visitors at 7.30 p.m., and representatives from other groups will offer their congratulations to Geraldine on attaining its fourth birthday. At 8 o’clock Governor Maddox will conduct the “Ceremony of Light.” Mr A. S. Geddes, Regional Administrator, will then give an address on Toe H affairs from a regional standpoint. Community singing and items by visitors will follow, and the Dominion Padre will give an address. The proceedings will conclude with family prayers led by Padre W. J. Couling of the Geraldine Group. FLOWER SHOW A BRIGHT DISPLAY St. Mary's Parish Hall presented a pleasing display on Tuesday evening when members of the Geraldine Women’s Institute held their annual flower show. PERSONAL At a meeting of the Works Committee of the Geraldine Borough Council, Mr W. Grindell, of the Council's staff, was appointed acting-foreman during the absence of the Borough foreman, Mr G. E. Berry, on six months’ special leave. Mr T. J. Paterson has been appointed supervisor of the drainage work at the Little Park and motor camp. DANGEROUS HEDGES The danger to motorists owing to high hedges obscuring the view at converging roads was referred to at the monthly meeting of the Geraldine County Council, when it was decided to draw the attention of the property owners concerned to the provisions of the Public Works Act 1928, Section 170 (a) which stipulates that they must have their hedges cut down to a height of 4ft 6in for a chain on either side of an intersection. The Council unanimously agreed that if property owners failed to comply with the request, proceedings would be taken under the provisions of the Act.
