PLANS OF DISCOVERY EXPEDITION Uuiiea Press Association—By Electra Telegraph Copyright LONDON, October 5. The Royal research ship Discovery 11. is again about to depart from London for the Antarctic to continue the oceanographical research, mainly in connection with whales, which the Discovery Committee, acting under the Colonial Secretary, and on behalf of the Falkland Islands Government have been conducting for some years past. Sailing on Thursday for Capetown. Discovery II will then proceed on a circum-polar cruise, which should be completed about next May. The Governments of South Africa and New Zealand, in accordance with the decision of the recent Imperial Conference, have been invited to nominate scientific or other workers to sail with Discovery 11. Discovery LI will zigzag from the ice edge to warmer waters 200 miles northwards, calling at Fremantle, New Zealand and the Falkland Islands. The observations in the southern summer are expected to compare instructively with those of the previous circum-polar cruise in the winter of 1932.
