W.C.T.U.

OTAGO CONVENTION By Telegraph —Press Association DUNEDIN, October 5. Delegates of branches of the W.C.T.U. met this morning, for the annual convention of the Otago district. The Dominion president, Mrs Hiett, delivered her presidential address, while Mrs Downing, in urging strenuous opposition to the suggestion for the licenses for tourist resorts, said it was a libel on overseas tourists to suggest that they required the stocking of accommodation houses with liquor. She commended the Hon. Semple’s campaign against drunken drivers, but commented that in face of his determined drive to make the roads safer, the thoroughfares were lined with public houses.
