TIME LOST IN STARTING TIMARU CLUB REMIT A suggestion that time lost through a late start should be made up at the conclusion of a match, if desired by the captain of the team ready at the appointed time, is contained in a remit framed for submission to the South Canterbury Cricket Association by the Timaru Cricket Club at its annual meeting. Mr F. S. Cave presided. The remit is as follows:—"That, in the event of a late start, the team that is ready to take the field at the appointed time, be able to claim time lost, such time to be added on at appointed time of finishing if conditions suitable. The captain of the team ready to commence must notify the opposing captain and umpires of his intention to claim at the beginning of the game.” It was unanimously agreed that the club support two-day matches as played last year. The annual report stated that the season had teen a successful one, and no difficulty was experienced in mustering a team. During the year 19 members took part in games, although the personnel of the team varied frequently owing to several members moving on to other districts. Prospects looked bright for the coming season. Playing in the South Canterbury Cricket Association senior competition, the club performed well and finished runners-up. With increased experience and more solidity the young team representing the club should perform well this season. Congratulations were offered to the following members who represented South Canterbury in matches during the season: R. Knowles, N. Gculd, G. B. Sara, R. McLauchlan, R. Wilson and H, Pateman. The report was adopted. The president congratulated the club on its performance last season, and said that he was pleased that the club had gone ahead as the financial position disclosed. He felt sure that the members would give a good account of themselves this coming year and wished them every success for the new season. Election of Officers The following officers were elected: Patron: Mr P. C. Vinnell; president, Mr F. S. Cave; vice-presidents: Messrs D. Mcßeath, L. E. Eaton, W. T. Ritchie. A. L. Marshall, W. Sowerby; secretary, Mr R. Wilson; treasurer, Mr R. Knowles; captain, Mr C. F. Allcott; vice-captain, Mr R. Wilson; committee, Messrs R. McLauchlan, W. Charman, and A. L. Hudson. The following new members were elected: L. Smith, R. Howell and A. Rollinson. It was unanimously agreed that the flat rate subscription was successful and it was decided that the subscription this year should be 2/- per player under 21 years of age and 2/6 per senior player for each playing Saturday. If necessary, the committee was empowered to request the payment of a levy at the end of the season. The secretary was authorised to procure a practice wicket at Fraser Park on the same terms as last year. Opening day was set down for October 9, the secretary to endeavour to arrange a friendly game for that date.
