TENNIS
TIMARU CLUB The annual meeting of the Timaru Tennis Club was held last evening, there being an excellent attendance. In presenting the annual report and balance-sheet, the president (Dr. W. R. Fea) thanked all who had so ably assisted him during the past year. Three teams were entered In the South Canterbury Association’s A, B and C grades, and although unsuccessful some excellent games had been played. During the season, the A team secured the Ross Shield from the Aorangl Club after an interesting match. Towards the end of the year a most enjoyable picnic and dance was held in conjunction with the Wai-iti Club, from which a slight profit was realised. The club finished the season with a credit balance of £l9/17/2. Election of Officers The election of officers resulted: President, Dr. W. R. Fea; vice-presi-dent, Mr A. E. Sandral; committee, Mrs W. Sowerby, Misses V. Campbell and V. Chamberlain, Messrs W. Reid, A. Shrimpton, R. Shiels, N. C. Martin and G. Harte; match committee, Messrs J. Taylor, W. Reid, L. Abraham and I"'ss V. Campbell; delegates to the South Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association, Messrs A. E. Sandral and W. Reid. It was agreed to leave opening day and entry of teams in the competitions to the committee. Subscriptions were fixed at men 25/-, ladies 17/6, under 19 15/-, school children 5/-. After lengthy discussion it was moved that a levy of 2/6 be placed on all senior members to assist the funds of the South Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association, the motion being carried.
