OBITUARY

MR E. C. BEALE By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND. September 21 The death is announced of Mr Ernest Clifton Beale (75). who played a leading part during the past 30 years at fitting New Zealand cricketers for periodical trials of strength with England in Britain, and in keeping the standard of the game up to test match pitch. For many years Mr Beale practised as a solicitor in Auckland. He and his brother, Mr A. M. Beale took regular part in cricket competitions. The latter became an Auckland representative. Mr E. C. Beale’s ambition was to see a New Zealand team play England at Lords, and he achieved this in 1931, during the second New Zealand team’s visit to England.
