NEW TYPE OF BIBLE

PLANNED AS LITERATURE United Press Association—By Electric Tel egraph —Copyright (Received September 20, 11.53 p.m.) LONDON, September 20. A new type of Bible, designed to be read as literature, is shortly being published by Heinemanns, with the approval of the King’s Printers. It will be without chapters and verses and certain “duller” portions, such as genealogies will be omitted from the Old Testament. The Bible will be rearranged in groups, the books beginning with the histories, then verse and the prophets, the prose being printed as such, and verse as verse. The more dramatic parts will be in play form. The authorised text will be used throughout, except the Proverbs, Job and the Ecclesiastes and the Song of Songs. The revised version which is being used it is understood will be similar to the volume published in America earlier in the year.
