Sept. 27, 5.13 a.m. CONDITIONS IN TIMARU Although the sky was clear for most of yesterday and there were nearly eight hours’ sunshine, conditions were spoilt by a cold easterly wind. Last night was calm and frosty. Records ait Timaru Park yesterday were : Barometer —30.04. Max. temp.—s 2.4 degrees. Min. temp, on grass—29.4. Wind—N.E.2. Frost—2.6 degrees. Rainfall—Nil. Rainfall to date this year—l4.69in. Rainfall to date last year—2l.B4in. Sunshine—7.9 hours. Sunshine to date this year—ll4o.7 hours. IN OTHER CENTRES Cnristchurch —The weather in Christchurch yesterday was fine and for the most part sunny, but a keen northeast breeze was blowing. The maximum temperature was 49.2 degrees. The barometer fell slightly and registered 30.10 inches at 5 p.m. Ashburton — The weather was fine again yesterday. There was a fair amount of sunshine in the morning, the sky being only slightly cloudy. There was a light and cool north-easterly wind. The first frost for three weeks was recorded in the morning. The frost was light, being only half a degree. Geraldine. — Air temperatures; minimum 56, maximum 66, at 9 a.m. Bright and fine. Temuka — Following a frost of six degrees in the morning yesterday was fine with bright sunshine. The maximum shade temperature was 54 degrees and the minimum 26. The glass was falling last evening. Waimate (24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday).—Thermometer, maximum 58; minimum 34.5; frost 8 degrees. Bright sunshine, 10 hours. Wind gauge (miles run in last 24 hours), 87. Yesterday was fine with cold wind blowing. Dunedin.—There was a slight southwest breeze yesterday but the weather was fine and warm, with bright sunshine. The maximum temperature was 52 degrees, and the barometer tended to fall slightly, last night’s reading being 30.10 inches.
