DINNER PARTY
Last night, Mr and Mrs P. A. Elworthy, “Gordon’s Valley,” Timaru entertained many friend- at dinner at Beath's, Christchurch, in honour of their younger daughter, Diana, who later was a debutante presented to His Excellency the Governor-General, Lord Galway, at the Christchurch Hunt Ball. Mrs Elworthy wore a distinctive frock of Venetian red souple satin, with uncommonly draped skirt, deepening into a train. The bodice, gathered into a V shaped band at the neck was finished at the back of the waist with a ejeep flare of satin. Her cape of white ring velvet was made with a circular yoke and wide collar of white fox fur.
Miss Diana Elworthy’s becoming frock of silver brocade was patterned in a white satin ivy leaf design. The skirt was gathered at the back to fall into a short train and was finished at the waist with a small flat bow. The simple bodice with low cowl in front ■was clasped with an ornament of seed pearls. Her cape with straight collar, of the same material as her frock, and her bouquet in pastel shades completed a charming toilette.
