WEDDINGS
CROSS—WILSON The Berwick Street Presbyterian Church, St. Albans, Christchurch, was the scene of the wedding of Mavis Ina second daughter of Mr and Mrs L. H. Wilson, Mairehau and Vivian Clarence, youngest son of Mr Robt Cross and the late Mrs Cross, recently of Geraldine. The bride, who was escorted by her father wore a sheath fitting gown of white satin, made high in the neck line with turn over collar, the back of which looped over and fell to the waist finished with hand made silk tassels. The bodice slightly rucked down the front had leg o’ mutton sleeves finished with tiny satin buttons a V shaped panel inset at the back of the skirt forming a full train Her veil was edged with satin ivy leaves and was attached to a halo of plaited silver lame. Her bouquet was of freesias, arum lilies and maidenhair fern. The attendant maid, Miss Maire Wilson sister of the bride, wore a pink shot taffeta frock. The yoked bodice with silver spray had tiny silver button down the back and unusual puffed sleeves tight to the e! ow. The waist was tied with a wide sash that fell over the fully gored skirt. A pretty silver juliet cap was worn and she carried a shower bouquet cf pale pink carnations and sweet peas, deepening to fuchsia and maidenhair fern. Mr C. Cumming” was best man. The reception was held at Dlxiland. The bride’s mother received the guests wearing a navy costume and hat with a spray of freesias. For travelling the bride wore a navy tailored pin striped suit, navy hat and accessories to tone. McILROY—LEDINGHAM The marriage of Ronald, only son of Mr and Mrs John Mcllroy, Geraldine, and Muriel, only daughter of Mr and Mrs F. Ledingham, Alexandra, was celebrated at First Church, Dunedin, on Monday. The Rev. Stevely officiated. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a frock of deep magnolia satin, made on slim-fitting lines. The bodice, which featured shirring on the corsage and sleeves, was made with a cowl neckline. The waistline was finished with a gold girdle. Her beautiful tulle veil was embroidered with gold and held in place by a wreath cf orange blossom. She carried a sheaf of gold arum lilies. Miss P. Melville, of Oamaru, the bridesmaid, wore an early Victorian frock of Coronation gold. The skirt was ruched above the hemline and short leg o’ mutton sleeves and a yoke of gold lace were featured in the dainty bodice. Her sheaf of anemones toned with the coronet of red anemones in her hair.
Mr Basil Robson, of Alexandra, act ed as best man.
After the ceremony, a reception was held, where the bride’s mother received the guests wearing a three-piece suit of black tulip knopp cloth, with wide revers of stitched velvet to tone. Her peach bloom hat toned with the revers and her bouquet comprised pale pink anenomes, pink hyacinths, daphne and maidenhair fern. Mrs Mcllroy, mother of the bridegroom, wore a black cloche suit with a semi-fitting threequarter length coat, finished with deep pin-tucked collar and cuffs of dull satin. A biege lace blouse and black straw hat banded with cire ribbon, completed the ensemble and she carried a bouquet of deep red anenomes and maidenhair fern.
When the newly married couple left for the north, the bride was wearing a smart rust coloured two piece semifitting suit with a leopard skin collar. She wore a peach bloom hat to tone.
