MORVEN INSTITUTE

MONTHLY MEETING Miss Wellwood presided over a good attendance of members at the monthly meeting of the Morven Women’s Institute. The members of the Willo-.bridge Women’s Institute took charge of the programme for the afternoon. Items were contributed by the Misses Hollamby (tap-dancing) and a pianoforte solo by Miss Alison Faulkner. Hiss Hollamby gave a demonstration of penpainting which was very much appreciated by all present. The competitions resulted as follows: Embroidered nightdress, Miss Stokes 1, and Mrs Hassall 2. Best bloom: Mrs Stewart 1, and Miss M. Sheppard 2. PERSONAL Mr E. J. Rawscorn, formerly of Waimate, was a visitor to the town yesterday. Miss Reida Duncan, Christchurch, who is attending the South Canterbury Hunt Club’s gaieties, will stay with Mrs E. C. Studholme, Waimate. Mrs J. H. Betten, and Messrs J. A. Lash, R. Eddy, G. Barclay, J, Bltchener and W. G. Paul received their Coronation medals yesterday. The Government Inspector of motor trucks (Mr T. W. Exton) paid a visit to Waimate yesterday.
