DEATH AT SEA

FARMER FROM TAIHAPE By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, June 30. The death and burial at sea of one of the passengers in the motor ship Matua was reported when the vessel returned from the Cook'lslands. The passenger was Mr John Femle Roberts, a 38 year old farmer from the Taihape district, who was making the round trip. The Matua left Auckland for Raratonga on June 17, and on the morning of June 19 a steward found that Mr Roberts had taken ill. As there is no doctor on board the ship, a wireless message explaining the patient's symptoms was sent to the Auckland Hospital, and advice as to treatment was sent back by one of the medical staff. Mr Roberts died seven hours later, however, and was buried at daybreak on the next day.
