RIFLE SHOOTING BURNETT CUP CONTEST The Winchester Rifle Club’s A team retains the lead after the fourth round of the Burnett Cup competition conducted by the Geraldine County Miniature Rifle Association. Preen, chairman of the Education Board, visited Geraldine yesterday to inspect the damage caused by the fire which demolished the woodwork room at the technical school on Tuesday afternoon Mr Preen was accompanied by Mr J. Bignail, the Board’s South Canterbury foreman. TOC H Members of the Geraldine Branch of Toe H entertained the ladies at a social evening in the Toe H Hall on Tuesday when a most enjoyable time was spent. Songs were given by Miss E. Gimson and Mr C. Gimson, and community singing was led by Mr F. W. Morgan. A play entitled "Birds of a Feather” was read by Mrs C. C. Bennett and Messrs C. C. Bennett, F. W. Morgan and H. A. Robertson. Mr Russell (Invercargill) contributed a humorous monologue and during the supper interval entertained those present with humorous stories.
