BEEF VALUES EASIER MUTTON AND PORK EASIER By Telegraph—Press Association DUNEDIN, June 30. A general easing in prices for beef and an improvement for mutton were the main features of the Burnside sale to-day. Fat Cattle The yarding totalled 370 which included a few trucks of prime oxen, but the bulk consisted of medium sorts. The adverse seasonal conditions were reflected in the condition of the entry, many lines showing lack of finish. On the average prices receded by 10/- to 15/- a head on last week’s rates. Values

Fat Sheep - The yarding of 1229 was somewhat below the total of the previous week, but having regard to weather conditions the quality generally was reasonably good. Competition was keen and values showed a rise of 2/- for prime wethers and 3/- for ewes. Values showed a slight casing, however, over the last two races, when animals of poorer quality were forward. Barley Cape barley is quoted at 4/6 a bushel on trucks. Chevalier, 4/8 a bushel on trucks. t Chaff. Good bright oatensheaf chaff is quoted at £4/2/6 a ton on trucks. Linceed The value of linseed is £l3 a ton on trucks. Potatoes With the exception of special varieties of potatoes such as Suttons and Dakotas, there is an absence of demand. The North Island is still heavily supplied with local and southern potatoes, and unless there are further shipments to South America the market will have a tendency to weaken. Nominal quotations are: — Whites, £5/5/- a ton on trucks. Suttons, £5/10/- a ton on trucks. Dakotas, £6 a ton on trucks. Seeds The market is quiet. Quotations are:— Ryegrass, 3/3 a bushel on trucks. Western Wolths, 2/6 a bushel on trucks. Certified commercial, 8/6 a bushel on trucks. Permanent pasture, 9/6 a bushel on trucks. White clover, 9d per lb. Cocksfoot, 7d per lb. Cowgrass, 6d per lb.
