WATKINS—CLANCY
The wedding took place yesterday afternoon at Chalmers Presbyterian Church, of Keith Aitken, eldest son of Mr and Mrs A. E. A. Watkins, Nile Street, and Clementine, only daughter of Mrs J. Clancy, Dee Street and the late Mr Charles Clancy of Timaru. The Rev. E. L. Williams performed the ceremony and Mr J. W. Fraser was organist. The bride was given away by her brother, Mr W. Clancy and attended by Miss Phyllis Strachan and Miss Audrey Watkins, sister of the bridegroom. Mr Noel Ford (Timaru) was best man and Mr Alan Watkins brother of the bridegroom was groomsman. The bride’s beautiful gown cut on Princess lines, was of pearl tinted satin, riche, the flowing lines of the skirt continuing into a very long train. The deep square neck of the bodice, was bordered with a ruched band of satin and the sleeves with pouffe fullness at the shoulders tapered.to the wrists. Her veil of cut tulle was arranged from a Tudor headdress of cream gardenias banked in with tulle and silver threads. Freesias and abutllions formed the bridal sheaf.
Charming frocks of sunset pink blistered French cloque were worn by the maids with Tudor halos of pink daisies. Their trained frocks were biascut and featured quaint peplums drawn in at the waist at the back. The bodies were softly cowled and clipped with silver shoulder medicl collars. The sleeves widely puffed to the elbows were finished in deep cuffs, slit at intervals to reveal the arm, and buttoned with tiny buttons. Pink abutllions and freesias were in their posies. The reception held later was at the Scottish Hall in Barnard Street where decorations were of chrysanthemums autumn foliage, with pink daisies and freesias on the bridal table. Mrs Clancy received the guests wearing a smart tailored costume of navy blue pinstripe with a beige lace blouse and navy blue peach bloom velour hat. Her shoulder spray was of pink freesias and abutllions. Mrs Watkins mother of the groom wore a frock and hat of petrel blue shade and a spray of violets was pinned to the lapels of her brown musquash fur coat. For travelling the bride chose a brown tailored costume of English worsted and brown crushed velvet hat, mounted with a fawn and green feather. Her blouse was green and she also wore a skunk fur stole. The bride and bridegroom will make their home at Wellington.
TYSON—CAMPBELL
At the Presbyterian Manse, Timaru, the marriage was solemnised of Beatrice Ellen, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Campbell, Church Street, Timaru, and Donald Eric, youngest son of the late Mr and Mrs Tyson, Rathmore Street, Timaru. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. L. Williams. The bride’s mother received the guests wearing a fawn fleck ensemble with hat to tone. For travelling the bride chose a fawn tailored coat with accessories to tone.
