Miss A. McLaughlan, Waimate, is staying at the Grand. Mr and Mrs L. F. Wright, Oamaru, are guests at the Dominion. Mr and Mrs F. Anderson, Winton, are staying at the Empire. Mr and Mrs Leonard Comer, Christchurch, are staying at the Grosvenor. Mr and Mrs Thompson and Mr and Mrs Murray, Dunedin, are staying at the Dominion.

Misses Nora Sugrue, Geraldine, and Kitty Sugrue, r-ngitata, will leave today on a holiday visit to Nelson.

Mr and Mrs C. H. S. Johnstone, “Bonnyrigg," St. Andrews, have returned from a visit to Wellington. Mr and Mrs J. W. Jones, Orari, have returned from a motor tour of Nelson and the West Coast.

Miss Mary Bond, “Dunrobin," Southland, is staying with Mrs P. A. Elworthy, Gordon’s Valley. Mrs V. J. Crowley, Auckland, is on a visit to her parents, Mr and Mrs Lionel Eaton, Elizabeth Street.

Miss Elizabeth Loe, Wellington, tutor of the New Zealand branch of the British Drama League is on a visit to Umaru.

Princess Elizabeth is joining as' a Girl Guide and Princess Margaret Rose as a Brownie a new company of Girl Guides which is being formed among their friends who are regular vistors to Buckingham Palace. The Countess of Orford and her daughter, Lady Anne Walpole, will leave England in September to take up residence in Auckland again. The Countess occupied the family seat in the Abbey during the Coronation service. Lady Anne has been taking a course of domestic science at a college in Devonshire.

Miss M. E. Marriott, who is an exchange teacher from Timaru Girls’ High School to the Girls’ Secondary School, Caerphilly, Glamorgan, was in London during the Coronation festivities, and she attended the many functions held at St. John Ambulance Jubilee. Miss Marriott, who is district commissioner for girl guides for Timaru, took part in a girl guides’ Coronation pageant at Cardiff, when Lady Baden-Powell was among those present. She went to London for the rally on June 5, held at Wembley Stadium.

The New Zealand nurses who went to England for the centenary celebrations of the St. John Ambulance, have been enjoying the hospitality of English people and attending numerous entertainments and “at homes." At one reception there were 700 overseas guests, while among the guests at another "at home" was Lord Bledlsloe. The nurses received a special invitation to visit Elstree studios whilst a picture was in the making, and they also attended a special filming of the record of the work of the St. John Ambulance Brigade during the first 50 years of its existence. At the review in Hyde Park on May 22 there were 7000 men and women on parade and it was the first time a Queen of England had reviewed a march-past of the nurses. On the following day New Zealand was represented at a march of over 300 overseas visitors to the Cenotaph, and in the afternoon 2QQP marched to St. Paul’s for the Emnirp pay Service.
